This is nauseating--off camera, they probably chanted "Hail Obama" and raised their arms, waiting to touch the Obamessiah's cloak as he passed by.

This proves that the Bush Administration was warning of a Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae meltdown while Democrats such as Barney Frank and Chuck Schumer were in denial, on a crusade to give people mortgages who couldn't afford them. Which brings up the obvious question: why is Frank the House Financial Services Committee Chairman if he wants to undermine our free market system?

Without much experience, Luke Russert got his job at NBC because his dad was Tim Russert. But he didn't get the memo that you're supposed to hide your liberal bias: he said that "the smartest kids" in Virginia lean towards Obama.

Even those of us who wholeheartedly support John McCain have to admit it was a bad week for him.  He looked wishy-washy on the AIG deal and fumbled when he said he would fire SEC Chair Christopher Cox.  Jennifer Parker on abcnews.com quickly hit on McCain's "gaffes" and goes so far as to say his missteps this week call into question his foreign policy experience.

So McCain stumbles and it's immediately a huge story, but Barack Obama has had a string of verbal misspeaks and I don't remember ABC thinking that was a big story.  We remember the Obama meltdown at a townhall meeting moments after walking away from a teleprompter.  Obama thought we have 57 states, honored fallen servicemen who were in his audience on Memorial Day, and forgot he was in Kansas City instead of St. Louis during the Democratic Convention.  Barack wouldn't want his daughters "punished with a baby," thinks John McCain is running for George Bush's 4th term, and called a reporter "sweetie."

Did I mention George Stephanopolous had to remind Obama that he's a Christian instead of a Muslim?

All of this takes me back a few years to Dan Quayle.  The man corrected a child on the spelling of potato (it was written incorrectly on a card given to Quayle that day) and was lampooned endlessly.  The man was called stupid and dumb.  But nary a word about Obama's many verbal slips.

Is the media afraid to call a black man dumb?  Or do they not want to develop a storyline that may hurt their guy?

John Cisco and Kucinich

Today John and Cisco talked about the strategic pairing of John McCain and Sarah Palin, which reminds John of older news anchors paired with cute young ones to entertain the viewers.

When you look at Big John and Cisco, you think, "older wise guy paired with a cute guy," and you'd assume that John is scary because he's Big. But this picture reveals the truth: the real scary person is Cisco.

Dennis Kucinich approached the WIND table at the DNC, thinking that he was going to be shot down by Big John, but what he discovered was a Harsh Cisco, opening his mouth to lash out and destroy Kucinich. Notice how Big John is smiling. It's because this pairing is not what it appears, and John's "older-cute" pair theory doesn't always apply.

At the DNC: maybe this is why ABC's Charlie Gibson tried to fry Sarah Palin and edited out key parts of that interview. Let's see how Katie's interview is going to pan out.

Is the Obama campaign really this cash-strapped?  We know his supposedly legendary fundraising operation is hurting.  Heck, if the New York Times is willing to admit it’s hit a rough patch things must really be bad, but is it so tight that he can’t spare a few bucks worth of stickers and signs for some little girls?

Michelle Walsh is a Girl Scout leader in the Chicago suburb of Naperville.  Her 2nd grade girls work hard at selling cookies and building crafts.  But Walsh sometimes tries to go a step further.  She wants to teach the girls about civics, specifically this Presidential race.  Walsh decided a way to get the girls really excited about the campaigns would be to give them trinkets from each of the candidates.  So she called John McCain’s campaign which immediately sent over a box filled with stickers and signs.  Then she called the Obama campaign and it left her scratching her head.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Obama camp took Walsh’s call and then directed her to the campaign website where she could buy all the trinkets she wanted.  Bumper stickers for $3 a piece.  Yard signs run $8.  That was a bit steep for the budget of a Girl Scout troop.

Walsh figured there must have been some mistake so she called the Obama campaign office again.  She told the woman on the line about John McCain’s generosity and this time she was placed on hold.  When the woman came back to the phone she apologized, but said they weren’t going to be able to help.  The staffer said the Obama campaign needs every penny it can get.  So she directed Walsh to another spot on Obama’s website where she could print out pages that the girls could color.  Nice.

Instead, Walsh called the newspaper, which got on the phone with the Obama camp and got a much different answer.  Something about a phone call from a member of the media enabled Team Obama to find a few extra bucks in the campaign chest to afford a box of goodies for the girls.  Touching.

Mistakes can happen in any local campaign office.  Surely decisions made by a low-level staffer may not represent what the candidate would do if he or she were asked.  But with Obama’s campaign significantly hurting in polls of women voters this perpetuates the narrative that he is dismissive of women.  Hillary was “likeable enough.”  Obama’s daughters shouldn’t “be punished with a baby” if they get pregnant before marriage.  Sarah Palin is nothing more than a“former mayor of a town of 9,000”and a “moose shooter.”  Regardless of what you think of the “lipstick on a pig” episode, it allowed the McCain campaign to put Obama on defense with charges of sexism.  Now Obama doesn’t think enough of the Girl Scouts to spare some stickers and signs?  That’s not how you get women back on your side.
